RentWerx is fully committed to providing our owners, tenants, applicants, and vendors with the best service possible. Sounds like a cheesy line doesn’t it? Well, it’s not. We have built a system and a team to deliver the best service possible. In doing so – we have come to the conclusion that Yelp wants to depict another story – about all businesses – because that is good for their business. Here are some commonalities and facts about Yelp you will want to know.
Yelp is Extortion. Yelp extorts businesses for money. If you don’t pay for their advertising of $350+ per month, your good reviews get filtered and your bad reviews are pushed to the top no matter the chronological order. They will deny this but when the entire Property Management industry can confirm this trend – there must be something to it.
Yelp is used as an Extortion Tool. Many of the reviewers on Yelp use the platform as a tool to get what they want out of business owners. “You give me what I want, or I will trash you online with Yelp!” This is a common theme among Yelpers and has been validated so many times that people see the results of bad behavior through underground bribes, pay offs, or free service. RentWerx has attempted to work with reviewers in the past to come to terms with them in order for them to feel good about removing their reviews. No more. We have been blackmailed too many times and refuse to be cyber bullied any longer.
Yelp is Dwindling. Their stock is going down and their consumer confidence is going with it. Businesses no longer see any forthright viability in Yelp. The only see extortion attempts. Yelp is no different than the mafia walking into the local business and demanding money so the business does not magically blow up. This persona is catching up to them and you see more and more people will NOT trust anything they read on Yelp – so why even bother with it.
Yelp Wants Drama. Ever notice that for most businesses that do not pay for advertising with Yelp that their bad reviews are always posted first? Have you noticed that Yelp wants businesses to respond and continue the drama? (Then the reviewer can update their bad review with a response) People skip right over the 5 star reviews and head straight towards the bad reviews so they can read the juicy details of what they think they are going to find – the smoking gun. Ahh Ha! I knew it! RentWerx was closed on a Sunday and the Tenant did not know it! Guilty!
RentWerx has more than 125+ reviews that were 5 stars removed or filtered! Why is this? No one knows. Yelp has this secret algorithm that filters 5 star reviews from a super Yelper, but leaves a 1 star review from an anonymous person with no profile.
Example ONE: “Bob S.” – Bob left us a 1 star review. He has no profile picture, no friends, and has only left 1 review on Yelp. His review sticks. Go figure.
Example TWO: “Mary R.” – Mary left us a 1 star review. She has no profile picture, no friends, and has only left 1 review on Yelp – Ever! Her review sticks and she is an outgoing tenant that was upset about her security deposit. Her attempt to extort us for money received a big fat NO – so she turns to yelp for some good old fashioned online bullying. RentWerx takes the blame for doing our job to protect the owner’s home. That’s OK – we can handle it!
EXAMPLE 3: Here is a review from Scott M. that was a 5 star review filtered to the bottom of the pile. Scott has 127 friends on Yelp, has left 14 reviews, and posted 4 photos….yet YELP filtered his review. Why? We know why, because we did not pay for their advertising services.
EXAMPLE 4: Another 5 star review filtered from Julie J. She has 213 friends on Yelp and has left 3 reviews. Why was her 5 star review filtered even when it directly mentioned a staff member by name? We know why – it’s because RentWerx does not give in to the Yelp extortion.
In conclusion, we encourage anyone reading this to review our website, talk with some of our team members, and make your own decision on which property management company to hire in protecting one of your biggest assets.

Another example of extortion this case from a reviewer and Yelp pushing his 2-star review to the top.
